30-Day Guild Wars 2 Challenge: Day 18 - Worst thing about GW2?
Honestly, it’s difficult for me to find fault with this game; I love it so much. But if I were to pick something I really don’t like, I think it would have to be the inequity with which the sexes are treated when it comes to armor and appearance.
I’ve posted a few examples above from the character creator. Starting with the naked models, the bra on the female is fine; I wouldn’t really want her topless unless the naked models were truly “naked” for both sexes. But her bottoms compared to what they slap on the guys… no. Either she needs granny panties or he needs a thong.
The next four sets of images are what the character creator suggests some classes will look like in top tier armor. The thief and the mesmer examples suggest that sexualization of the female form over the male is not only accepted in Tyria but promoted.
The elementalist examples are getting closer to equity, but the female still shows much more skin than the male.
The warrior examples come the closest in my opinion to true equity in sexualization of the genders, except for the fishnet stockings on the female. Fishnet does not equal chain mail.
Granted, not pictured here are the other classes like engineer ranger and guardian, which are all perfectly equitable in my opinion with no sexualization of either gender.
Does any of this affect game play or lessen my enjoyment of GW2? No, not really. And it’s really an overall societal problem that’s bigger than just a video game. But it is something I’d like to see improved.
Woot! This happened today. I had to go into WvW to get it done, but I found a good horde to follow around and wrapped it up in less than an hour.
I’ve been swamped by real life for the last couple of weeks with little time for Tumblr and even gaming in general. As a result I’m way behind on the challenge. Well I’m just going to pick up where I left off and forge forward like nothing happened. :)
This is one of my favorite GW2 videos. It’s actually a series of videos WoodenPotatoes has chronicling the rich lore of the Guild Wars world. I find it very interesting, and I get a kick from his accent.
I’m afraid I’ve been remiss keeping up with the challenge and missed a few days, so here’s a down and dirty make up post. ;-)
Day 14 - When did you start playing?
This is a GW2 challenge so I suppose that means when did I start GW2? I played in the first beta weekend event, so I’ve been here since the beginning.
Day 15 - Your favorite fractal dungeon?
None. I have never run fractals. Well that’s not entirely true. I went in there once with a group of guildies I didn’t know very well and we wiped constantly. Never finished the instance. Never been back.
Day 16 - What do you listen to while playing?
I usually don’t listen to music. As fantastic as the GW2 soundtrack is, I get tired of hearing the same music over and over. I have all music turned off. I do that in most games. But I don’t just replace the game music with other music either. If I’m grouping with people in Team Speak or Raid Call, I don’t listen to anything. But if I’m soloing I might listen to NPR or a book on Audible.com or Guildcast from Gamebreaker.tv or something like that.
“You go to the Great Lodge seeking solace from the seemingly endless battles with the Molten Alliance. As you enter, you see that you’re not alone. A group of war-torn strangers look up at you and smile, beckoning you over to join them…”

North America
Role play party! I plan to make these regular occurrences, (assuming people show up) so if you miss this one there will definitely be another one.
For anyone on the North American servers here’s a world clock to see what time the party starts for you.
I hope to see everyone there!

European
Mostly did guesswork for European. Your party will be the same date and location just at a different time than North America. Your clock timer is here.
(If someone is willing to actually sit down and help me plan for EU I would really appreciate that. This means like exchanging emails or talking on GW2 or sending asks.)

Please Re-blog even if you don’t RP <:
Reblogging to boost bandwidth. Not sure I’ll attend; I don’t think I have the RP chops for something like this.
Happy Star Wars Day!

Being in a small guild and having really rotten luck with pick up groups, I’ve not done a lot of dungioning. The only two explorable mode dungeons I’ve done are Ascalonian Catacombs and Honor of the Waves. I’ve done AC a lot more than HotW but I think I like HotW more. At lease I like the environment more.
Hmmm… maybe I should have read ahead before promising two posts today? LOL
I’ve never been one for chasing achievements that don’t give immediate and noticeable rewards. I might work toward a title, and I always try to complete the daily and monthly achievements. But don’t chase badges just to say I have them.
So… sorry, nothing to see here. ;-)
30-Day Guild Wars 2 Challenge: Day 11 - Your favorite gear set
I was extremely busy yesterday; didn’t even log into the game. So today you’re getting another pair of challenge posts. =)
My favorite gear set? That’s something I’d be hard pressed to settle on one. I do have a favorite set per character though… and to be clear, I’m talking about appearance here. I am a frequent user of transmutation stones. Once I find a look that I like I stick with it for a while, even at the lower levels. I’m very vain when it comes to my characters’ appearance.
I’ve been spending a lot of time on my guardian lately and I really love the appearance of the armor set in the screen cap above. I was grouping with my brother the other day and he said, “You look very… Roman.” I suppose the color scheme has Roman influences, but I prefer to think of this style as “Abs-tastic!” :-D
30-Day Guild Wars 2 Challenge: Day 10 - Your favorite weapon skin
Currently my favorite weapon skin is the Lionguard longbow. It’s elegant and classy without being too ornate. It fits Arazmus’ style perfectly. This screenshot doesn’t really do it justice. I just wish the longbow was more useful. I run my ranger with shortbow/longbow but spend most of my time on the short bow.
Hmmm… that’s going to be tough. I usually forget to take screenshots, but of the ones I have there are several I really like.
Glancing back through my blog it doesn’t seem obvious but I am very much in love with Arazmus, my sylvari ranger and main character. But since he was 80 before I joined Tumblr the majority of my posts are about alts I’ve been leveling.
This pic is from Arazmus’ first Tequatl fight. I had just positioned the camera for an action shot when he got feared. LOL

This is an old one taken in the grove. I just love the expression on his face! It’s like, “Well, hello there.”

And then there’s this one, which I like to call “Dragon? Where?”

The Asura Dance Party! Held during the early moments of the party, the turnout was much bigger than it was at the first party +_+ Song chosen by resquest of heroofshaemoor — he’s the little mesmer in yellow with the mask.
Love the asura dance!
